At an early age of 7 you are asked, ‘what do you want to be
when you grow up?’ but now this question has become a reality. It’s not a joke
anymore. You even lay awake late at night thinking what my next plan is. Why do
I bring this up now? Well results for both GCSE and A LEVEL candidates came
out.
At GCSE level some move on to sixth form. Again this is a stressful stage as this is the part that shapes your future. What subjects should I pick? You ask yourself. When choosing your subjects don’t choose just because your friend says they are going to do those. At this point don’t even look at what your friend is doing. Remember 6th form shapes your future. Have you researched what subjects your career requires? If not, it’s not too late to do so.
I remember my school gave people about a week and a half to get their subjects sorted because it is tough decision. Mark this as your first mature decision. I know they say consult your parents, but often times this has lead people to be stuck in careers they don’t even love or want to do. Take time to think about this. Start talking to your careers councilor as soon as possible. Don’t pick subjects you know you will struggle while in your 6th form.
A level students have it harder than anybody else. They have
to start picking universities and colleges. However a few may still be
wondering what their options are (career wise) and it is normal because usually most
people pick subjects that can work anywhere just not in medicine. Just to avoid
this situation at this stage consult your guidance counselor at an early stage
of high school if you don’t really have a clue. If you are at his very stage,
ask people around you, your parents and siblings what field you will be good
in. Usually they know you more than you know yourself. It shouldn’t be so hard
for you to fall in love with their suggestions.
Personally I would recommend taking a bit of time thinking
about what you want to study in University. As this is going to be your 9-5 job
for as long as you live (unless if you decide to be an entrepreneur).
So helpful😭 thank you!!😊
